Local and global missions opportunities

Serve at SMLC

Get involved by serving our church family! From the children’s ministry to ushering and hospitality, there’s a role for you here!

Serve the church

Serve on Sundays

Sundays are amazing at SMLC! We offer traditional and contemporary worship, coffee house, children’s ministry, youth ministry, and more! We have several opportunities to get involved – musician, vocalists, greeter, usher, Sunday school teacher, youth group leaders, become a coffee house barista.

Serve During the Week

Throughout the week, there are many places to serve and get plugged in. We need people to help out in the office, preschool, trustee (handyman), funerals, Christian care, visitations, and more.

Serve in a Group

Small groups are the best way to get to know people and dive into God’s Word. Consider joining a group or helping to lead a group. We also have many other fellowship groups, such as Women’s, Men’s, and OWLS (Older Wiser Lutherans).

Serve locally

St. Mark partners with several organizations throughout the Valley.

Angel Tree

This year SMLC partnered with Prison Fellowship Angel Tree to help give children of an incarcerated parent a brighter
Christmas. SMLC embraced 10 families, providing 27 children and 10 caregivers with gifts this Christmas. Twelve volunteers helped to make this a reality, in addition to many congregants who took angels and purchased gifts for the children and caregivers. If you would like to volunteer in 2024 contact Monica Schuman.

Harvest Compassion Center

Harvest Compassion Center (HCC) is a food and clothing bank located at Tatum & Thunderbird Road.

St. Mark will host a Diaper & Baby Wipes Drive for HCC

April 24-May 12

Sizes 3, 4, and 6 are especially needed, but donations of all sizes of diapers are greatly appreciated!

Paradise Valley Community Food Bank

1,663 pounds of food and other items were collected for the Paradise Valley Food Bank through November. SMLC is up by almost 10% over last year’s giving. In addition, $150 was collected at the Souper Bowl event and 313 pounds of pet food was donated. Donations can be placed on the cart that is by the Sanctuary doors every Sunday. For more information contact Cynthia Fetty.

Feed My Starving Children

During three sessions in 2023 at Feed My Starving Children in Mesa, a total of 93 St. Mark volunteers packed or supported the production of 142 boxes or 30,672 meals!

FMSC offers volunteers a one-of-a-kind experience. You’ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world.

Through volunteering at FMSC, you’ll get the chance to impact hundreds of kids in just two hours per packing shift. You’ll experience what it’s like to make a tangible difference today.

Children as young as 5 years of age may volunteer with an adult.
